Glentel operates two distinct divisions. The Retail Division, doing business as WirelessWave, Tbooth / la cabine T, and WIRELESS etc., provides personal wireless and wired communications products and services, and a choice of mobile phone network carriers to consumers through retail stores in major shopping malls and Costco Wholesale stores in Canada. The Business Division provides its public and private sector customers with engineered wireless solutions – designing and commissioning wireless networks for applications in the core technical areas of terrestrial radio systems, and satellite network services. 

In 2007 Glentel was recognized as the “Business of the Year” by the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Board of Trade. Other company highlights in 2007 include:


Retail Division

  • The Retail Division opened 56 new store locations during the year, growing from 168 to 224 locations and strengthening Glentel’s channels to market as a wireless solutions provider to consumers;
  • WirelessWave celebrated its 10th anniversary and added four new stores to end the year with 101 locations;
  • Tbooth / la cabine T expanded its store presence from 49 to 60 locations;
  • The company signed a multi-year agreement with Costco Wholesale Canada and expanded WIRELESS etc. from 22 to 63 stores in Costco Wholesale locations;
  • The Retail Division increased same-store mobile phones and wireless devices sold by 11% over the previous year; and
  • Glentel was honoured with two Training Excellence awards from the Canadian Society of Training and Development for Creating a Culture of Learning Development and for its Overall Internal Learning programs.

Business Division

  • The Business Division achieved its mandate of integrating its 2006 acquisitions and strengthening its delivery of wireless business solutions through its national network of branch operations;
  • The division completed the installation of a new state-of-the-art VSAT (“Very Small Aperture Terminal”) satellite hub at its Edmonton, Alberta facility, offering SCADA (“Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition”) services to customers throughout Canada and the United States; and
  • The company began seeing broadband opportunities as a growth segment of their business, announcing systems applications for customers such as the Capital Health Authority in Edmonton and the City of Regina.
